Rationalists attacking the Christian faith about the belief regarding resurrection of Jesus Christ after having been crucified on the cross and questioning his relationship with Mary Madeline have indeed shaken the foundations of the Christian Church.
First it was Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code and now a claim by James Cameron, director the film Titanic, about the discovery of Jesus Chirst’s tomb, where his family too lies buried (documented on film), questions the very basis of Christianity and the deification of a celibate Jesus Christ, as the son of God, who had a miracle birth and was resurrected three days after he died.
James Cameron documentary is bound to cause an upheaval in Christian society. The Church and the Pope did trash the Jesus and Mary Madeline relationship propounded in The Da Vinci Code. The basis of identifying Christ’s tomb too is bound to dumped soon. However, increasing questioning about the Church’s involvement in guarding and deliberately hiding some aspects of Christ’s life is under the scanner as never before in the last two thousand years.
The Da Vinci Code made a startling claim that a bloodline of Jesus survives for Mary Madeline was not just a disciple of Jesus Christ but was also his wife. The book claimed that at the time of Christ’s crucification, Mary Madeline was pregnant and a bloodline of Christ protected as the Holy Grail was secretly guarded and survives till today. The book traces that after Christ’s death, Madeline is supposed to have escaped by sea to south of France and raised a daughter who was married into French nobility.
Now the claim of having stumbled upon the family tomb of Jesus Christ, shakes the basis of the resurrection theory. If Christ was buried after he was crucified like any other mortal, then where does the question of resurrection arise from.
Has the Church deliberately misled on the facts about Jesus Christ’s life to build the edifice of a trans-continental religion that has lasted two millenniums? Was Mary Madeline deliberately relegated in stature from a wife to a woman with low virtues, just to give Christ a celibate godlike status? Were the images of Virgin Mary and Mary Madeline deliberately cultivated to suppress the reality of what must have been a normal life for a young man like Jesus Christ, with a wife, over two thousand years ago?
In the last two thousand years Christianity has survived many onslaughts. Defended by kings, the Roman Catholic Church and the Greek Orthodox Church, however it is modern research and questioning of the rational mind that is breaking down some of the very foundations on which the religion has grown up on
