Tehran’s probable Islamic assault to the world seems to be invigorated with its recurrent defiance to halt the uranium enrichment that is proving a bone of contention for international community’s assiduous efforts to ward Iran off becoming a nuclear state.
Iran is covertly perusing, as world community and IAEA believe, and rightly so, uranium enrichment for extracting the nuclear deterrent. Iran refused to comply with the sanctions of the Security Council in December last year that are subsequently increased in March after Tehran stepped up the program that can produce nuclear weapons. Iran intensified the rift when it barred UN inspectors to have full access to its nuclear facilities. EU foreign ministers also offered to confer an incentive package and promised to ward off sanction if Tehran agrees to halt Uranium enrichment- something that Tehran denied to comply with.
The standoff is widening as US took tough stand yesterday on Iranian nuclear issue with its nine war ships gushing to the Persian Gulf and President Bush predicting a bloody summer in Iraq.
Bush’s statement came after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defied Western pressure to curb its nuclear drive and exclaimed -
With God’s help the path to completely enjoying all nuclear capacity is near its end and we are close to the peak.
On the other hand, US pledged to work with European, Russian and Chinese leaders to impose a third and stronger round of U.N. Security Council sanctions against Iran’s defiance.
Bush further reiterated -
The first thing these leaders have got to understand is that an Iran with a nuclear weapon would be incredibly destabilizing for the world. It’s in their interests that we work collaboratively to continue to isolate that regime.

This is quite an expectant action of US to send the war ships in Persian Gulf to put pressure on Iran since Iran, inarguably pursuing covertly to develop the nuclear deterrent. However, Iran always discarded the claim on the ground that the uranium enrichment is intended for the civilian purposes and for generating electricity in particular.
With yesterday’s move, it is very much clear why Bush vetoed the Iraq war-funding bill. Bush, being a shrewd diplomat has perhaps pre-designed the move with a counter strategic denouement to face any challenge from Iran that surmounted with vehement Iranian attitude against US.
Moreover, Bush vowed to comply with the Iraqi government that passed a bill recently for the gradual retreat of the coalition forces and said-
We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation and if they were to say ‘leave,’ we would leave.
This is a strategic step, I think, to kneel down Iran and give its adherence to IAEA obligations. Any military action against Iran will leave US diplomatically isolated. However, certain measures are required against Iran to ward off an Islamic country to be added to the nuclear warhead equipped nations particularly when there are growing apprehensions of Iran accessing the nuclear expertise of N. Korea since there is growing propinquity between the two nations. Any successful endeavor of Iran to extract the blue print of nuclear expertise will not only unsettle the Middle East region but will have long lasting repercussions. Nuclear deterrent will give Iran upper hand on Middle East countries and tussle with Israel may result in a fierce battle.
