Gaza takeover by Hamas provided the spark that the ammunition therein was waiting for and US-Israeli efforts to alienate Hamas added more fuel to the fire. Amid these crises, people in Gaza are battling with destitution, as the stringent financial and material restrictions that follow after the Hamas’ takeover has brought more woe to them.

The sanctions have made masses jobless. It has corded off all opportunities for the people making them unable to get jobs in Israel nor are they able to flee abroad for the same. They can’t even fish in sea because Israeli gunboats open fire at any vessels that are more than a mile offshore

Well, US backing Israel even when it breaches norms or confiscates Palestinian territories (Gaza and West bank), is the sheer example of discrimination. Life in Gaza without jobs, food, education and health care services is at standstill.

US Israeli efforts are catastrophic misappropriation of the situation. On the other hand, Abbas was caught in US’s cajoling when with the release of the funds he joined them to isolate Hamas added more miseries to Gazans. Hamas is a force to be reckoned with in West bank and too hard to a faction to succumb to Israeli suppression.

Will people pay for the wicked machinations of power hungry politicians? Yes, innocent people have always paid a heavy price for the mad race of politicians to attain hegemony - be it Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Sudan or Israel itself. However, nowadays Gaza turmoil is worse than ever.

With the widening schism Palestine fights with duel ideological differences between its own factions (Hamas and Fatah) and with the West backed Israel. Amid these clashes, the hopes of impoverished ghetto of Gaza to have peace and stability are diminishing.

The Israeli-US efforts are the specimen of diabolic collective punishment and irony lies in the fact that it comes with the support of Abbas Govt. With this any peace agreement and future cooperation seems only vague. Should US and Israel dare to let Gaza fall to al-Qaeda to radicalize the beleaguered Palestinians or what if the Abbas’ fragile West Bank falls to Hamas? If this happens, civil war will spill over to West Bank, thus jeopardizing the whole Mideast.

Finally, faction clashes, internal conflicts, ideological differences and fight for power have led people apart - not only ideologically but geographically as well. Too much suppression has already started showing the wicked pangs and Hamas with militant nationalism can strive to eradicate Israel and this again will be a troublesome situation. Therefore, it’s worth saying that Hamas should be added to the main stream realizing the miseries that Gazans has gone through abstaining which, violent aftermath are imminent.
