Israeli troops have started one of its biggest operations in Gaza strip since last year’s withdrawal of troops. On the first day, 2 Palestinians were killed. The rising violence is dimming down the rays of hope towards peace process. Although Israel is taking safety measures since Hamas took office in March after winning elections. Hamas is sworn to Israel’s destruction. By ignoring the allegations, Israeli army cleared that there army is only targeting militants not the civilians.
Israeli forces with heavy artillery are being given cover up by tanks and aircrafts. Israel also cleared that an operation will be aimed for destroying sites used to fire rockets at Israel and to dismantle “terror infrastructure”, and its army is not having any interest in disturbing social life of civilians.
Israel withdrew its army and Jewish settlers from Gaza after a 38-year long occupation, but tension increased along the frontier when Hamas took office and rebuffed Western demands to recognize Israel and renounce violence.
If we see strategically, Israel used to kill Palestinians who threw stones. Then they would certainly kill Palestinians who used GUNS. Now they kill Palestinians who launch rockets. There is an escalating pattern going on. Were any country to back Palestinians to the degree that the US supports Israel, there would be a whole lot more bodies on both sides of the fence. Israel should work towards peace before the Palestinians actually become armed and dangerous.
