Iraq went From bad to worse, from worse to worst and now the violence nullifies any positive step forward with blood stains. Nevertheless, another step downwards, as the fierce counter allegations - in face saving attempts - on Iraqi turmoil has begun between US lawmakers, who are demanding the ouster of Iraqi PM, and Maliki, strongly bouncing back with ‘come to the senses people’.

The loosening knots between al-Maliki and US with grim violence accompanied by political stalemate have increased tension between the two and with these US senators criticizing al-Maliki and Iraqi leaders deeming it unfair US criticism is adding more fuel to the fire.

Yes, democrats are not happy with al-Maliki’s performance, but when was he given a free hand to act as the PM of Iraq? He was more or less a puppet dancing to Bush’s tunes or a king without crown, while orders flowing from Washington. Still McConnell said:

It’s a democratically elected government, and I don’t think we can dictate to them.

When will US adopt it in reality and mind you it’s another example of hypocrisy because this is what they have done in Palestine (disapproving Hamas, a democratically elected Govt.) and are doing the same in Iraq while dictating al-Maliki. US wants to settle for a government that can bring security. So, is it US or the Iraqis who will decide what kind of Govt. they want and who will rule next?

Well, US presidential race is heating up and the countries concerned to US will definitely be affected by this in both - pre and post election scenario. Therefore, will replacing al-Maliki soothe the war torn country? Of course not, but will trigger the leadership crises.

Now as it heads towards the replacement in Iraq, who is going to be the next puppet...if not puppet then who? But surely for one thing that the cat has slipped out of US’s hands and now the commanded are going to command as the beset Iraqi PM will no more be the blind follower of US’s biased policies. No doubt, Iraq is going to play a major role in US presidential election. Therefore, rather than making it an election agenda, perhaps efforts to solve the Iraqi predicament on both side will serve more than being at loggerhead.
