The U.S. and allied forces’ failure to penetrate deep into the lands of Afghanistan, except a few operations in the targeted areas, helped al-Qaeda to re-group itself to raise its head yet again.



Mullah Dadullah Akhund is reportedly commanding Taliban in the tough terrain of Southern Afghanistan. Latest reports suggest that Mullah’s ruthless approach is outshining the al-Qaeda slain leader Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi.



The fresh armed conflict which is supposedly the biggest after year 2001when they had to flee from Kabul, is in all probability is being headed by Mullah. The recent gruesome suicide bombings are supposedly master minded by him.



The recent upswing in the activities of re-strengthened al-Qaeda could be a result of two factors, first the failure of U.S. forces in Iraq may have boosted the masterminds of al-Qaeda and the other reason could be the death of Zarqawi.



Since the death of Zarqawi in Iraq raised the question on ‘future al-Qaeda influence or existence’. Al-Qaeda definitely came under immense pressure and had an urgent need to re-assert itself in order to keep mass support intact.
