Hamid Karzai , President of Afghanistan and the commander of American military forces in the Middle East. Observed that there has been a gradual shift in the modus-operandi of the Taliban insurgents on the way the are attacking the coaliton forces. He went to say that this might be because of sheer frustation of the insurgents.
There has been the development of the Afghan Army and the recent surge of suicide bombings and other attacks against the police had been part of the Taliban’s reaction against this.
The U.S. on the other hand, has gone on records saying categorically that its long-term motto was to build a strong Afghan Army which is capable of taking military operations of its own without having to rely on the outsiders.
‘They did not believe you would stand with us the way you did in raising our army,’ Mr. Karzai said, referring to the American government and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). ‘Now that we are focusing on the police, they are doing their best to undermine that effort.’
Mr. Karzai observed that the malafide intentions of the Talibans suffered a serious jolt when the saw the American government and NATO forces still in the country. This was the least the Talibans would have expected who have been believeing all this while that the American government and NATO forces wouldn’t las so long in an unknown terrain. Sheding more light into his observation Mr. Karzai went to the extent of saying that the Talibans now cant afford to see an Afghan force which would be well equipped to , in both man power and infrastruce , to give the talibans a run for money !
