Areil Sharon lies in comma and his policy of disengagement with the Palestinians is shattered as Israeli forces move deeper into northern Gaza.



To buy peace with the emerging Palestinian state, only last year at great cost they had vacated parts of Northern Gaza after 38 years of occupation.



The fresh Middle East crisis threatens to escalate and engulf a wider area. With Israeli planes buzzing the Syrian presidential residence and Hamas militants still holding the Israeli soldier captive, the whole region remains on the edge.



Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has refused to negotiate with the militants and warned of action against anybody involved with the kidnapping. Critics of Sharon’s policy are advocating that giving up land in Gaza will not bring peace.



As the militant rockets begin to increase their hitting range in deeper Israeli territory the invading army may decide to regain the vacated land.



President Bush’s efforts to see Israel and Palestine co-exist as peaceful neighbors have come to naught. The European Union too has failed to mediate effectively and deflate the explosive the situation.
