Simmering tension in the Middle East seems to be getting colder as the peace process in the region seems to be clicking at the moment. Good news is the political entities in the region have started to reciprocate, though guarded, to the efforts to bring peace and stability in the region. In the recent political developments in the region is clearly spelling out an indication that the efforts are heading in the right direction.
Syria has already reciprocated and undertook diplomatic efforts to normalize its relations with Iraq. On the other hand, in a similar approach Iran has invited Iraq’s President Jalal Talbani to discuss the ways to check the relentless violence in Iraq, which the president has accepted.
Moreover, Jalal Talbani could be a crucial and perfect figure to play a very important role in diplomatic negotiation. In fact, Jalal Talbani comes from Kurd faction and he is a conciliatory figure in the Shiite and Sunni division. On the other side of the story Bush administration has given a guarded response on the prospect of the talks at Tehran.
Nevertheless, though the peace efforts have been triggered due to the obvious compulsion at White House but it provided the Middle East region a chance to make correction in the diplomatic bilateral ties between countries.
