Fatah and Hamas may have agreed to ceasefire and formed a unity government in Palestine, peace and reconciliation between the two is a distance dream to achieve.

In a fresh lethal clash, first since the unity government was formed in Palestine, between Fatah and Hamas a militant of Fatah group was killed and seven others injured in Gaza City. Responding to the attack, militants of Fatah faction seized two members associated to Hamas group within no time.

Both the groups alleged each other for initiating and aggravating the fatal attack where gunshots and rocket-propelled grenade were exchanged between them.

Fresh conflict has once again shattered the hopes of new government to extend harmony in the region, achieve international recognition and the lifting of the long international aid prohibition.

The gap between Fatah and Hamas groups is too big to reach any long term settlement, for the differences in ideology and the contradictory vision of future Palestine have brought the opposing political group in front of each other many a time. And the new unity government is not much better than a band-aid, which will sooner or later become grubby and go down, leaving the same old wound vulnerable and exposed.

Unity between the two factions looks like a far destination until neighboring Israel and world community offers a peaceful and suitable environment to resume their talks and negotiations over the prospect of Palestine.
