soldiers in iraq

Hardly does a day pass without reports of violence and death screaming all around in Iraq. Iraq is trapped in a sectarian violence that is fast spiraling out of control and although the Bush administration is always trying to put up a brave face amidst the crisis, the harsh truth is that it is failing miserably in its endeavor to restore peace and security in the nation.

Britain has already started pulling out its troops from Iraq in spite of the severe criticisms directed by many observers. But the US is unable to do since it itself kindled the war in the Middle Eastern nation and now it is trapped.

In recent months the insurgents have targeted the US army in order to drive the intruders out. On Wednesday, a mortar attack on a US camp near Baghdad killed two US-led coalition troops and injured 40 others. This is just one of a string of such attacks on foreign soldiers deployed in Iraq to counter pro-al Qaeda insurgents.

Latest reports suggest that the Bush administration’s flawed strategies and failed tactics in Iraq after the ousting of Saddam Hussein have actually inspired terrorism. More and more Iraqi nationals are getting depressed about the policies their nation is adopting and more than a million Iraqis have already run away from their nation due to swelling sectarian violence.

Insurgents in Iraq are gradually expanding their network and with the smuggling of arms and ammunitions from neighboring Iran, they are getting stronger and stronger. At this point of time, Iraq appears to be heading towards the abyss and only Time can tell whether it will ever recover.
