Isn’t it! This is what Bush’s Iraq adventure reflects. All US strategies failed even before they commence. But now, arming Iraqi Sunnis is a contentious issue with everlasting aftermath.

Iraqi history is marked with the suppression of one faction against other and US exploited this loophole tremendously. Everyone is familiar with US’s ‘divide and rule policy‘, but arming Sunnis against al-Qaeda, proposing to give Sunnis the oil fields, and propagating unparallel growth, this is how you execute it.

US is in hurry for Presidential elections are approaching at home and now the senators have to face the public wrath for war in Iraq. That is why they go on experimenting in helter-skeltering way to sooth the war torn country by 2008, but every effort drags them on the back foot.

They are dividing the hell in Iraq? Yes, you heard it right. US is gradually sowing everlasting conflicts for Iraqis to reap. The so called ‘Soft Partition’ will be nothing but reminisce of India-Pakistan division and violent aftermath which continues even now.

US finally agreed to and planned an ‘exit strategy’. Well, it’s a case of grapes being sour than anything else. As the ship starts sinking, mice are among the first to leave. But here mice are manipulative and before leaving they will hole the ship thus nullifying every possibility for it to survive.

Arming Sunnis mean arming them against Shias and confrontations will not remain confined to Iraq only. If the strategy (as they say) worked in Sunni majority Anbhar province, it doesn’t mean that it’ll be an ideal one for ethnic areas like Baghdad. It woefully will intensify the civil war.

Moreover, it will provide a spark for the whole Arab world which is on brink of a volcanic eruption. As of now Iraq is going through the tough period, so is it a time to experiment? Handing over arms to Sunnis against al-Qaeda if proved a good idea then will US do the same with Shias and Kurds in their respective areas? If that can create a chaotic scenario, then the present move will do nothing different.
