The American election campaign between Senator Barack Obama and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is getting really interesting with each passing day . In an attempt to rally the Democratic Party around him on Thursday he took a sarcastic stand against Senator John McCain when he said McCain was ‘losing his bearings’ in his mad rush for the White House.
Obama did get a red-carpet welcome in the Capitol, where an overwhelming public gave him a rousing reception on the House floor indicating his stature as the party’s presidential nominee. On the contrary, Hillary Clinton had reiterated her resolve not to give up the fight for the race, just not yet.
Terry McAuliffe, chairman of the Clinton campaign, said the race would come to an end as early as next month which in turn would help the party to avoid the hostile summer. The Clinton camp’s version was no different when her allies opined that she should call it a day quickly because her campaign too is getting mired with obstacles, for instance, a sharp decline in fund-raising.
I think she should complete the primary season, and then she has to re-evaluate and her supporters have to re-evaluate
said Representative Nita Lowey of New York, a Clinton backer.
In an interview with CNN, Obama did appear to be polite to Clinton, he however appeared agitated when he was enquired about the statement made against him by McCain. In the statement McCain had said that the radical Palestinian party Hamas, which is considered as a terrorist organization by the U.S., would go in favour of Obama. To this, Obama shot back by saying this was offensive and vilifying.
And so for him to toss out comments like that I think is an example of him losing his bearings as he pursues this nomination
Obama said.
