Once again, Israeli forces created mayhem by undertaking an almost full-scale war against Palestine to free Cpl Gilad Shalit allegedly captured Israeli soldier. Israeli forces have already taken positions in South Gaza and mounting immense pressure on the Palestinian authorities.



Recently, a series of talks had taken place between Israeli and Palestinian authorities to establish peace on the border areas, but now it seems that has no effect for the time being.



Hamas, after coming to power had indicated that they are ready to settle down the issues with Israel. However, this is the first major incursion since the Gaza withdrawal last year.



Palestinian authorities has condemned the action of Israel saying, ‘military madness’. On the other side, Israel’s premier has bluntly said that Israel is prepared to take even extreme step and operation could last many days.



However, the Israeli authorities reiterated that the operation is limited and surgical with having only one objective- to free Cpl Shalit.



Three different organizations have already claimed responsibility of Cpl Shalit including the armed wing of governing party Hamas. Hamas however, had said that it has no idea of whereabouts of the captured soldiers.



Israel has taken Gaza under its occupation in the year 1967 and only last year it had withdrawn its forces from Gaza.



As a better fact, the present government led by Hamas in Israel is nothing but eyewash, since any government needs it ruling apparatus to be in shape and in line, something that this government lacks badly.



Like any other war-stricken countries in Africa or like Iraq or Afghanistan, even this country needs U.N. peacekeeping force just to place administration in place so that any party coming to govern can govern.



In the meanwhile, irrespective of the outcome, the latest incursion of the Israeli forces is bound to poison the atmosphere in the Middle East.
