The sectarian conflicts and across the border brawls or wars are not new to the Middle East for the region over the decades has witnessed more violence and bloodshed than any other place in the entire globe.

In an ongoing conflict, Israeli military entered the Gaza strip yesterday and arrested about 30 Hamas leaders, including a Cabinet minister, in the West Bank. The conflict initially started between Hamas and Fatah in Palestine last week and then crossed the borders to involve Israel after Hamas launched a rocket fire against them.

Though, Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz has claimed the arrests as an attempt to neutralize Hamas, the latest move by Israel has not only drawn worldwide criticism but also provoked Hamas for suicidal attacks within Israel. Peretz in an interview with Israeli army radio, asserted,

Arrests are better than shooting. The arrest of these Hamas leaders sends a message to the military organizations that we demand that this firing (of rockets) stop.

It is not the first time that Israel has raided Palestine and captured Hamas people. Israel has arrests and killed a number of Hamas militants in cross-border raids in the past. Above 40 Palestinians have already been died in Israeli air raids over the past 10 days. These fresh cross borders raids and arrests are a certain blow to peace efforts that will only worsen the demeaning situation Mid-east region.
