The car bomb attacks and the roadside bombs are among the main causes of US troops’ death in Iraq and the occupying forces have failed to stop these even after the six years seize. In a latest attack on the US soldiers, one was killed and another was injured seriously in a sophisticated armored-piercing roadside bomb attack in the Iraqi capital.

The recurrent occurrences of violence and suicide attacks have caused havoc on civilians. Attacks one after the other have made the security forces to toil hard against Road side bombings, cars explosions, and the suicide bombs, but of no use.

Attacks and violence still go unabated putting question mark on US strategy and its claims to reduce violence. In such an incident on Monday, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a banquet intended to be a reconciliation feast between provincial officials and former Sunni insurgents in Iraqi town of Baquba, killed 18 people and injured 28 that include the high officials i.e. provincial governor, the regional police chief, and the local military commander.

In a latest development in Iraq, US forces carried out an air strike killing at least 10 people, including women and children, in a building in a mainly Sunni area of Baghdad. The raid targeted a building in the Al-Saha neighbourhood in southwestern Baghdad where families were sleeping. This is another major incident after Blackwater episode wherein 11 civilians had died.

Senior leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq was killed in a US air strike near Baghdad on Tuesday. Gen Joseph Anderson of US army said the death of Abu Osama al-Tunisi, who had led a group of foreign militants in Iraq, was a major blow to the organization.

A Syrian cleric suspected of recruiting foreign militants to fight in Iraq has been shot dead in the Northern Syrian city of Aleppo. Sheikh Mahmoud Abu al-Qaqaa was shot several times by a gunman as he left the Imam Mosque after Friday prayers.
