It is estimated that Iraq needs approximately $100 billion to recover the losses due to war. The whole infrastructure has been destroyed, and it will need about four to five years for Iraq to recover properly. These issues were highlighted by Iraqi top leaders during the meeting on international aid.
The backbone of Iraq’s economy was oil, and it has been badly ruined by troops. For fulfilling the requirements for oil supply it needs special backup from international community, otherwise the smooth life of people of Iraq cannot be restored.
The specific types of five year plans have to be adopted so that Iraq may overcome war losses. For that Iraq on his own can’t do anything, therefore there is a need of aid from whole world.
On the other hand, the infrastructure of economy, public health and education should be boosted up first, instead of military infrastructure. These are the issues on which there is no time for thinking, they should be backed up as soon as possible. More probably before the end of the year.
The international organization like International Monetary Fund and other should undertake the development of Iraq so that the given aid may be utilized properly and wisely. Otherwise in the corrupt environment of Iraq, the international aids can be misused.
Although it is clear that Iraq is quiet rich in its natural resources, but instead of all this Iraq needs help to upbring the phenomena, so that the resources may be exploited properly up to there maximum extent.
The invasion of Iraq was a mistake, therefore, it is the prior duty of U.S to take part in Iraq’s development instead of looking towards the world.
