Well, war against ‘war on terror’ in Iraq and Afghanistan is intensified tremendously. Landscape in both war haunted nations is marked with unprecedented mayhem and violence goes on unstoppably. Every strategy to sooth the tumultuous region falls on the back foot and one wonders whether there is any tactic with which peace and stability can be restored.
Nevertheless, the country witnessed two bomb blasts wherein 58 people have been killed and 89 injured. The first bomb attack took place in the town of Baiji in Salahuddin province that killed 18 people and injured 29. The blast was targeted on the house of a city police chief, General Saad al-Nufus, but the bomber failed to reach his heavily fortified house and hit at a nearby house.
Whereas, second incident took place in central Baghdad where a bomb exploded in a minibus parked near the Khalani Square. Blast killed at least 40 persons and over 60 injured.
It’s nothing surprising but a routine in Iraq where scores of people are killed everyday. Will this bloodshed end somewhere? Frankly speaking, as of now, there is no hope.
Political scenario is even too grim in Iraq and sectarian violence is increasing mocking at US claims to reduce it. There are rare hopes that Iraq will return to peace and stability. I may be little too hard to say this but events one after the other shows this, particularly when US motives have turned from pacifying the country to profit mongering.
