injured in iraq blast_5106
Violence seems to be continuing its honeymoon in Iraq. At least 12 people, mostly women and children, died in a mortar attack on Sunday, as bullets and bomb blasts fail to cease. With almost all the victims of violence being Sunnis, we are forced to question, how long will the fire of sectarian violence aired by the Al Qaeda continue to flare Iraq?

Al Qaeda is leaving no stone unturned to fuel the sectarian violence between the minority Sunni community and the dominant Shias, who continue to spell doom in their own country, sparing none in the mayhem. American money and support has failed to provide succor to the ailing millions. It’s long after Sadaam Hussein was hanged, yet the country continues to witness the bloodshed as if his spirit hasn’t rested in peace.

Thousands of innocent lives have been lost in this year alone, while those responsible remain at large. More so, the NATO forces led by U.S. have not been able to provide a peaceful atmosphere in the country, which has been in the fire ever since the war on terror by the U.S. began. But, the American interests in Iraq don’t lend it to leave the country.

How long will the common Iraqi suffer? How many more will die in the bloodshed? Will it ever stop? Will the worst victims of the violence, the Iraqi children continue to bear the burden of the bloodshed in which they don’t have any part to play?
