Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has threatened in a stricter tone that it would disrupt oil shipments in the Gulf if U.S. makes any erroneous step while dealing with Tehran. Until recently, Tehran has repeatedly saying that it would not use oil as a strategic weapon to deal with the present crisis.
Anyways but Iran has no other option. Everybody knows when it comes to open confrontation, the oil supply is more damaging than use of nuclear weapon which Iran in all probability do not have it.
Uncomforted U.S. showing no signs of distress as it ruled out the recent threat saying Tehran is dependent only on the oil revenues and it cannot afford to disrupt oil supplies. An estimated 80 percent of Iranian budget comes from oil revenue, so it is a bit difficult for Iran to cut supplies.
However, this is not a right stage to evaluate whether Iran is taking extreme major in the crisis. On the proposed carrot and stick proposal, it had softened its stance over the nuclear program. Further, Iran had said that it is ready to come on the table if there would be no preconditions.
