Iran
strongly condemned the statement made by British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Wednesday. Blair has called the world powers to make an alliance of Muslim countries against Iran.

The Tehran has termed this statement as hostile and has blamed Blair adding more fuel to tensions in the Middle East region.

Earlier, Tony Blair completed his Middle East tour with a speech in Dubai on Wednesday.

He said that

there is a massive struggle going on worldwide between those who believe in democracy and moderation, and forces of reaction and extremism.

Blair termed the government of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the chief foe in the region. He accused Iran for openly supporting terrorism in Iraq.

He also blamed Tehran administration to restrict establishing democracy in Iraq and Lebanon.

He called that

the world must mobilize our alliance of moderation to defeat the extremists. It would help the region and outside the region as well.

On the other hand, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that Blair’s speech was hostile in nature. It is an obvious intervention in the local affairs in the region.

Hosseini said in reaction that

the unconstructive and inharmonious tendencies of Britain and US as well as the unilateral policies of Bush and Blair are the biggest reason for tension, extremism and the public hatred in the Middle East region.
