Bloodstained shrieks of the victims of ongoing Palestinian civil brawl between the two political rival groups, Hamas and Fatah, over the power control have crossed the borders and strained the neighboring states to intervene into the internal affair of Palestine.

The conflict that has already killed 24 people and left many more wounded in the Gaza City just in the past three days came to the fore only after Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections in early 2006.

Since then Palestine, once known as the holy land, has turned into a bloody battlefield where people have become hostile to each other and ready to kill their own brethren. Hamas’s persistent disapproval of the existence of Israel has provoked different sanctions from the United States, the European Union and the Arab states on Palestine that further have forced intense financial crisis and economic breakdown in the nation.

Appraising the absorption of the situation and to put off the ferocious internal hostility, Saudi Arabia gets into the matter and invited the leaders of both the Palestinian factions, ruling Hamas and President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah, for persistent talks in the divine city of Mecca. King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia said,

What is happening on the pure land of Palestine is a disgrace, which has tarnished the history of the honorable national struggle of the people of Palestine.

The Hamas-led Palestinian government has accepted the invitation of King Abdullah for talks with Fatah, their chief political rival. Palestinian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Taher An-Nono said,

We welcome the invitation by His Majesty King Abdullah and the government appreciates this generous position, which comes in an attempt to resolve Palestinian internal differences.

The initiative taken by the King Abdullah may have some important as well as interesting consequences that can possibly bring some sort of stability in the militancy-hit Palestine. The problem between Hamas and Fatah may appear too grave to reach any conclusion, however, this initiative on the part of the King of Saudi Arabia will offer a neutral and suitable environment, without intervention from any other side, to discuss and resolve the old disputes over ideology and control of state.
