In its continuous efforts to find out a peaceful solution of the worsening America-Iran nuclear crisis a top EU foreign policy official has urged America to engage Iran in direct negotiations and to discuss latter nuclear programs.

Javier Solana, the EU’s foreign and security affairs chief, who has just returned from the annual trans-Atlantic security conference, Ankara, after discussing the same issue with Iranian spiritual leader, Ali Khameini. Ali has conveyed Iran’s willingness for a direct talk with Washington, which has put the ball once again in America’s court. Solana will convey the same to the U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, when the two meet in Washington on April 30.

For quite a while now the tussle between the USA and Iran is brewing up. While America is proclaiming that Iran adamant attitude to develop and possess nuclear weapons has made the entire issue worse. On the other Iran has been claiming, time and again, that it is developing nuclear energy for the peaceful purposes only and it is no threat to the world peace. But the superpower, America, the self proclaimed master of the planet earth, is determined to stop Iran from amassing nuclear weapons and latter’s repeated statements that it is working only to develop civilian nuclear energy have failed to convince America. Thus the entire episode is looming large.
The Bush administration has also accused Iran a destabilizing factor in the Middle East and Washington perceives Iran as a direct threat to the former old time allied, Israel.

Iran’s has already faced two sets of sanctions for showing defiance to U.N. Security Council demands on uranium enrichment.
