US president George W Bush said that the US forces will leave Iraq if the Baghdad government asks them to.
Bush said:
We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation.
If they were to say leave, we would leave.
Bush also warned Iraq must repay the sacrifice of US soldiers.
The US President’s claims are hard to believe.
First, the US government was never invited by any Iraqi government to their country. The US attacked Iraq on the pretext that Saddam Hussain possessed weapons of mass destruction (WOMD). US forces demonstrated their military might using high end war weapons, missiles, fighter planes and warships. They bombed Iraq, not only killing the Iraqi soldiers but also the civilians. Even after it was clear that Iraq did not possess any WOMD and that the US had prior knowledge of the actual situation, US was least discomforted by the condemnation across the world. Instead, US established a court [which was obviously under US control] and ‘prosecuted’ Saddam by hastily hanging him till death. The hanging of Saddam, which came a few days before the end of 2006, was seen as an attempt by Bush to prove himself a victor.
The government that now rules Iraq, is a US backed government. It is quite unexpected of this government to take independent decisions and is almost impossible for it to ask the US forces to vacate its country.
Second, Bush wants Iraq to repay the ’sacrifices’ of US soldiers. The US soldiers did not fight for Iraqis nor did they fight terrorism. They merely fought their war for ensuring their dominance on the world. They wanted to control the oil sources of Iraq which they achieved. US companies are reaping profits by entering Iraq for various works including reconstruction. Only US can be farsighted enough to see the potential of reconstruction of destruction cause by self.
During US invasion on Iraq, one thing that happened was widespread publicity of US war weapons, planes and ships. This must have come handy for an economy that is highly dependent on arms trade.
When the world knows the reality of US, why does Bush pretend to be the saviour of the world. Why does the US portray itself as the lead torch bearer of humanity?
Hey wolf! Everyone knows you are a wolf but are ready to say you are a sheep. So throw away the sheep skin.
Power is almighty.
