Political instability, mayhem, and deadly violence have left Iraq in tatters and forces one to contemplate ‘what’s next’? With this hopes for a peaceful and bright future are also fading away. Now the counter allegations between al-Maliki and US senators have begun which reflects the callousness on either side without adhering to the plights of Iraqis.

Violence unabatedly spills over in Iraq defying every US effort to stem it. Amid such crises now US senators are getting impatient with the massive upheavals and blames al-Maliki for not taking fast track measures for political reconciliation.

Al- Maliki and Bush are gradually loosing faith in their respective countries and are alleged with the lack of political insight. US politicians went to the extent of threatening to withdraw support from al-Maliki Govt. Al-Maliki defies any such move and bounced back with the remark that no one has the right to put time restrictions on his government. He further added that US’s impatience reflects concerns for Presidential politics than to suffering Iraqis in reality.

The cardinal concern in Iraqi politics nowadays is the collective decision of Shiite and Sunnis to boycott government policies that paralyses the Government which already is struggling with the turmoil. This is a troublesome move and can create leadership crises.

It’s not the time for counter-allegations but to work collectively to settle the turbulent country. At present, it’s necessary to look for reconciliation with the beleaguered Sunnis and Shiite, failing which more woe is stored for Iraqis. And momentous task to subdue violence is more important than the impatience of the US senators. Finally, for the peace and stability in Iraq, it’s necessary to set benchmarks to achieve a stable, united and democratic Iraq.
