sadr group for pact with us

U.S. seeks pact with Shia leaders, as a harbinger of peace in the war-hit Iraq, embroiling in violence, bloodshed and devastation ever since the NATO forces invaded the country. Is it the dawn of peace in mangled Iraq?

For so long, Iraq embroiled in war, controversies, bloodshed, Saddam’s execution and the incidents thereafter, spelled only danger for it, but as the American Government seeks to sit for dialogue with the war-mongering Shia sect, especially the dangerous and most powerful Muqtada Sadr led group, the sunrise of peace seems to be in the air. However, sitting with the U.S. on the same table can spell more damage for the country. The differences between the same Shia sect, with one going in for dialogue and the other against it, can very easily ripe into a situation of more violence and bloodshed between the same.

dialogue between shia and us harbinger of peace

But, on the other hand, taking the Sadr group into confidence is also essential for peace restoration in and around the capital. Especially when the militant group has pervaded all nooks and corners of the city, where it sells fuel, electricity and rents houses and has even entered the Iraq army and police, making a fruitful and peaceful dialogue the only option left for the U.S. before it decides on withdrawing from the country. Yet, even a productive dialogue seems to be falling apart, particularly when it will come to demands by the militia group that could span from disintegration of the country or giving full control to the group.

The U.S. has finally decided to lay down arms and convene meeting with the sectarian groups that have been profusely wetting Iraq by splitting each other’s blood. The Shia-Sunni fight, the Shia-Shia conflict and the Shia-army clashes have only made the situation more and more worrisome. Thousands have died in this conflict of possessing control of the war -devastated land. If only dialogue is the solution, then we can say, U.S. is finally tracking the right course. But, is it the American setting apace to withdraw from Iraq ?
