The United States has given the sign that it may push for tougher sanctions against Iran if it would continue its nuclear activities now.

According to reports, Iran has continued expanding its capability to enrich uranium. Iran has chosen to disobey a UNSC demand to stop its nuclear activities.

With these developments, the US has started considering for pushing international sanctions against the Islamic Republic country.

On the other hand, the IAEA has said that Iran has planned to install 3,000 centrifuges that is well-designed to produce nuclear fuel at its underground facility in Natanz near Tehran by May.

On December 23, the UNSC unanimously had voted to impose sanctions on Iran over its program as well as a ban on acquiring materials to build weapons. The UNSC had given Iran 60 days to stop enrichment process but Iran didn’t suspend the work. Now, the 60-day deadline has been expired

Now, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said today that all available ways would be used to build up pressure on Iran to halt work.

On the other hand, Iran has offered a guarantee for not pursuing nuclear weapons. At the same time it has refused to wind up its enrichment program at any cost.
