At least 30 Iraqi Shiites were killed and 50 injured in a bomb attack in Baghdad’s Sadr City. The victims were poor laborers who were gathered in hope of getting work as usually. But who knew that it would be their last day of life.
The bomb exploded at 6:15 in morning. Till now nothing is known about the explosion, weather it was an attack by a suicide bomber or it was placed some where in the market. The attack occurred in an area which contains maximum population of Shia Muslims.
Such attacks on Shia minorities may be the step to promote conflicts and give rise to civil war in Iraq. For such anti-Shia attacks mainly Al-Qaida is suspected.
Such attacks will not only give rise to communal riots amongst Shias and Sunnis, but it may also harm the unity and peace process in Iraq. To overcome such situations police should work hard and put the culprits behind bars so that the anti nationalist regimes like Al-Qaida may not get a chance to disrupt the peace process in Iraq, if it really is so.
