According to Iraqi government official report, as many as 16,273 civilians, soldiers and policemen have been lost their lives in the year 2006. On the other hand, an independent Associated Press had reported that more than 2,500 people have been killed in Iraq in 2006.

According to the tabulation made by the ministries of Health, Defence and Interior in Iraq, 14,298 civilians, 1, 348 police and 627 soldiers had been lost their lives during the violence erupted at many places throughout the year.

On the other hand, the United Nations report said that almost 100 Iraqis died each day in the violence. That shows another figure as many as 36,500 deaths a year.

Now after Saddam’s execution Sunnis in the region, have been outraged and started supporting militias. People were incensed by the visuals of execution chamber in which Saddam was taunted with chants of Moqtada, Moqtada, Moqtada.

Most of the Sunnis were upset as Saddam was put to death the day that Sunni celebrations began for Eid al-Adha.

Saddam’s eldest daughter, Raghad Saddam Hussein, said in Jordan in her first public appearance since the execution,

God bless you, and I thank you for honouring Saddam, the martyr.

As the protests are going on in Iraq, the US forces has continued its operations in Iraq. Six Iraqis were killed on Monday when a US-led troop attacked on a top Sunni politician, Saleh al-Mutlaq’s Baghdad office.
