Recently Iranian navy have started it’s military exercises in the Gulf to show it’s power and defense capability to world. Now Fifteen British Navy personnel have been seized by Iranian naval warships in Iraqi territorial waters, the Ministry of Defence of Iran has said.
During the routine boarding operation of navy this incident of capturing British troops occurred. The Iranian ambassador in London has been called by Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett for safe release of sailors.

In a statement the MoD said: “At approximately 10.30 Iraqi times this morning, 15 British naval personnel, engaged in routine boarding operations of merchant shipping in Iraqi territorial waters in support of UNSCR 1723 and the government of Iraq, were seized by Iranian naval vessels.
Earlier so many times British servicemen were captured by Iranian forces in the troubled waters between Iran and Iraq. In in July 2004 eight servicemen were seized and detained.
